Runic notes by Valentine Orphanet.
Today we got to grips with something real. A velvet bag was left next to my pillow. Normally a light sleeper I was, at first, a little concerned I never heard anyone enter my room.
The clay, hand shaped tiles I found within the small sack were tremendously tactile and felt good in my hand. They had some weight to them but not enough to be a chore to carry.
A note in scribbled English Instructed me to become familiar with them and to take them with me to the library after breakfast.
Gemma was already sat next to the reading table when I arrived in the library as were Samantha, Jenny ad Pippa. Although Gem was the only one with a book open trying to accelerate her knowledge.
"If we're meant to know Melody will tell us." Sam said as I pointed out the book opened to a page maker Elder Runes. "Besides, I've numbered mine so its easier to remember them. I played a little and pulled four of the same runes five times. Guess I know what numbers to play on the lotto this Saturday!"
A sniff from behind us got us spinning in our skins as my neck tried to imitate an owls.
"These are serious things, used to take the accumulated wisdom of the ages and present it in ways your impossibly small minds can interpret. Do not use them for petty activities or personal gain and that goes double for the lotto."
Three hours later I had reams of notes based on these little clay tiles, photos in my phone of their order and functions and a story in my head of their history and lore. Sadly I have little idea over their actual use. Maybe lesson two would shed some light on my notes.
